Create 365 - Day 81

I'm wrestling with hemming a pair of canvas karate pants for a friend this evening. I've only jabbed myself maybe half a dozen times. Stupid canvas.

Seeing the hem on a pair of plain white canvas pants is not exactly exciting so here is my nod to Easter, an origami bunny:

I really need some thinner paper especially if I keep insisting on making them so small! From a 3"x3" paper it came to about 1.75" high by 1.25" wide. It's got some unusual folds but I think it turned out alright. Here's the diagram if you want to try it for yourself.

Create 365 - Day 80

This is the conversation I had today with my hubby via chat:

♦♦♦♦    ♦♦♦♦    ♦♦♦♦    ♦♦♦♦

HUBBY: had a nurse (older, southern mom type) yesterday who works at **** threatening to stab co-workers there with scissors if they didn't return her pen
[Jokingly! Not serious. Mostly. ~Static]

ME: damn!

HUBBY: told her she'd get along with my wife

ME: :D

HUBBY: she said "I'll cut 'em deep. Don't think I won't"

ME: ahem i mean, i don't know what you're talking about LOL!! i like her!

HUBBY: heh figured you would

ME: hey and she can always stitch them up later IF they give back her pens

HUBBY: pen is the priority for sure

ME: duuuude we should send her pens and a nurse keychain with scissors!!

♦♦♦♦    ♦♦♦♦    ♦♦♦♦    ♦♦♦♦

And, so it began...

So, if you see a nurse with scissors on the quick draw, DO NOT wander off with her pens!

Create 365 - Day 79

Today is a day of YUM! I made lasagna. Here is a deliciously close pic...

Okay, so maybe I had to crop off my bad angle, whatevs. Anyway, this was at the point when I need to turn it because my oven likes to cook large things kind of lopsided as you can tell by the browning of the cheese. I don't remember where I picked up the recipe but there's tons to choose from online so you don't need mine. But, if you must have this one because it looks so scrumptious, just ask.

I also finished a candy colored ZomBunny today.

I haven't decided if I want it to be a "bloody" one or not yet but I'll think on it tomorrow. I'm wiped out and ready to fall on my face. Granted, I was up way before the sun.

Until tomorrow xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 78

I had some technical difficulties with something I was stitching on so for today here is an origami arching cat...

I don't have a link for this one because it's from a book called Classic Origami by Paul Jackson. Maybe your library or local bookshop has a copy you can browse?
For whatever reason there are not many intermediate cat origami. This one is a little hard but doable with patience (and thin paper!).

Create 365 - Day 77

I fell asleep on the couch before I got around to posting, oops! It's all good, that's what backdating is for, after all. So, where were we... oh yes, I completed another Grumpy Neko. Don't start a staring contest with her. You will lose.

They are taking over the world, one Grumpy little Neko at a time.

I've got a few suggestions to continue my 365 with but the suggestions are welcome anytime. Maybe the next creature I stitch up will have been inspired by you!

Create 365 - Day 76

Oh hey, Bunny! What's that, you want a hug? Okay.

Wait a minute... what do you have behind your back?

Bunny! Now is that anyway to behave? Ouch! Apparently the answer is yes. Damn stabby bunny.

Create 365 - Day 75

Today was a busy day of necessities shopping and laundry so I didn't get a whole lot of stitching done today, some prep work but not much else. I *did* create --aah, see what I did there?-- a couple of delicious somewhat healthy lunches for my hubby.

Mixed greens with carrots (from the bag) plus freshly chopped orange bell pepper, tomato & cucumber. So as not to make this just "rabbit food" for lunch I cooked up a breaded chicken patty, cut it up and sprinkled it over the top. YUM! Of course this gourmet lunch has to have a dressing, which I whipped up from scratch.

These are the portions I like, so be sure to adjust to your taste:
9 tbs virgin olive oil, 4 tbs balsamic vinegar, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp seasoned pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder. Shake.

The bottle is an old olive oil bottle which I love because it has a pouring stopper on the neck that I can remove for mixing and then put back when I'm ready to shake. It definitely helps keep the mess to a minimum. Not that I would make a mess or anything *whistles innocently*.

Damn, now I'm hungry.

PS - I stubbed four toes in the writing of this post. No permanent damage, just thought I'd share.

Create 365 - Day 74

Yes! I got the Purple winged Nyanpire done.

I also took and edited some photos this morning which means I also got some listings posted. Here' one of the silly, fun pics...

Kittenstein vs Nyanpire!! Who will win?

Create 365 - Day 73

Here is the black and white Grumpy Neko.

Look at that snaggly tooth. Look at it! So cute.

I'm a bit punchy since I need to sleep so I'll be going now.

xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 72

I spent some time cutting out various Nekos. I was going to start on another Nyanpire but then I received an order for a Grumpy Neko, and orders come before play.

This one is extra grumpy. Look at that frown! My-my, someone must have piddled in her kibbles by the look on that face.

Next up, a black & white Grumpy Neko and that purple winged Nyanpire I've been trying to finish over the last few days!

Create 365 - Day 71

Nyan-nyan! (Meow-meow!)

I am the night!

Yeah, yeah, you are the night. I swear these little guys don't have anything else to say. There will be another Nyanpire with purple wings shortly but I have to finish a Grumpy Neko first. Woo!

Create 365 - Day 70

And, yet another Grumpy Neko.

Don't get me wrong, I love making them but I need to make some other things before I get to the point of not liking to make them anymore, you know?

I'm thinking make a few more Nyanpires...

Color suggestions are welcome!

Create 365 - Day 69

It's Grumpfest up in here! Here's the Grumpy Kitten Plush I finished.

She'll be listed, along with the headbands from yesterday, as soon as I have a minute for decent photos.
Another is on it's way to completion, but not until after I finish up a made-to-order Grumpy Neko Keychain Plush Charm. See? Grumpfest!

Create 365 - Day 68

I needed to change it up a little and I haven't made any new headbands in a while so here are couple spooky cute ones:

And, now I can finally show the secret chibi I finished on Day 59!

The face details, shirt and shoes (supposed to be Crocs) are completely hand stitched. The hat was done totally on the fly. I was so happy it turned out right on the first try because the hat just makes the chibi look all that much more like the real life version!

Create 365 - Day 67

Grump-tastic...

Told ya it was going to be a few days worth of grumpness.

I'm totally sore from helping a friend move house but wide awake since I slept for hours after we got home. So, stitch on I shall! I might even be able to share the secret chibi, from last week (or was it the week before?), tomorrow.

Create 365 - Day 66

I got an order for a Grumpy Neko so I stitch one up today. I also whipped up a batch of Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and cut out pieces for a couple of fleece plush.

"Is that what I think it is? I hate it."

"I (h)ate your cookies, too."

Well, apparently the Grumpy Neko doesn't approve but what can you do? She doesn't like much of anything. Except the cookies. I'm pretty sure she's been eating them.

Create 365 - Day 65

Here are the finished tiebacks for the curtains. Same fabric as the chairs on the outside and solid black cotton on the inside. Since they'll be hanging next to the chair rail (the molding that runs along the wall about 3ft up from the floor) I echoed the shape with a waved bottom edge.

I'm happy that you don't see that center seam unless you're looking for it, especially once it's wrapped around the curtain. I did go all out and edge stitch them even though they pressed sharply. I also hand stitched/wrapped the loops that will go over the hooks instead of stitching on plastic rings. Now to just coax the hubby into put the hooks in the wall for me :D .

If you are wanting to make your own tiebacks here's a good explanation on how to measure them out.

Create 365 - Day 64

Catching up on Heroes while finishing the new look for the remainder of 6 chairs. I'm loving the contrast to the table and floor.

Now I just need to get the hooks in place for the tiebacks and, voila, my dining nook / additional workspace is done. Yay!

Now what else can I use my staple gun on? Hmm...

xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 63

At the time of the pic, two chairs have been recovered in stripey goodness and I drafted a quick pattern (under the scissors) to make matching tiebacks for my lovely but boring black curtains. The leftover strip of fabric, after cutting the pieces for the seats, was just shouting to be used. Why not coordinate?

The only problem is I want vertical stripes and the left over isn't quite long enough in the correct direction for that but... a seam at the center fold might go unnoticed if I do it right at the edges of the stripes. Yes, I think that is the plan for tomorrow. Finish the chairs and then make those tiebacks happen.

xx ~Static

Monday, March 11, 2013

Create 365 - Day 62

This is my first attempt at re-covering a chair seat. So, of course, I had to choose something as difficult as a stripe. But, it's stripey goodness and therefore a must.

I loves me a staple gun! [Insert maniacal laughter here]
The "before" is on the on the left and the "after" is on the right.

Le sigh ♥.

If you want to try it yourself, here are the best written instructions I've come across. The section on how to get the right measurements for your fabric was spot on for my seats. Always double check before you cut though. Also, there's a lot of youtube videos on how to do it if you need the visual.

Well, 1 down and 5 to go. Later, lovelies!

Create 365 - Day 61

Today was a little slow going but I did make an apron for myself. I finally got to use some of the great fabric my friend, MyPrettyZombie, sent to me!

The only thing you can't see is a loop on the inside to able to hang it on a hook when not in use. I may add a pocket, even though I've never actually used one on an apron before. I'll definitely be adding a big bat applique though! I just don't want to place it and then possibly have to move it if I decide on a pocket. It's mine so there's no rush and it is completely functional as is. Just perfect for my Halloween kitchen!

Create 365 - Day 60

Wow, 2 months down & 10 to go.  I can do it!

Today's creation, in it's neon green & black glory, is FrankenKitty.

Or maybe, Kittenstein? Hmm.

Also, craziest of craziness, one of my Chibi Jonny Craig dolls is currently on tour with none other than the (in)famous Jonny Craig! For real and for true. A fan gave him the doll and it is now posted on his Instagram. Neat!

All right, it's back to work for me. Chat at you tomorrow. xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 59

The custom chibi is done! But, I still can't show it. Foo. I also tried to work on some drawings today but it bombed. After that waste of time I did manage to start a new kitty charm...

FrankenKitty!!

It's only in the beginning stages but I'm tired and I did complete one creation already even if it is still top sekrit. For now, good night! This batling is bushed.

Create 365 - Day 58

Tiny shoes about 2.5" long have come clomping across my table.

I can't wait to be done with this piece. Not because it's taken me a bit of time to finish, since I'm creating some elements as I go, but because I can't wait for it to be shared!

Create 365 - Day 57

Ahh, so happy to be able to sew without a hazmat suit. My head is clear...ish. Well, as clear as it gets. I'm finally almost completely caught up on the custom work I had piled up before I got the plague. That's what I get for playing with the plague monkeys, but they're just so darn cute! Granted I was able to finish a few smaller things between sanitizing dips just not as much, or as creative, as I would have liked. Although, I must say Grumpy Kitten Plush is a cutie pie.

Right now there is a tiny naked person on my sewing table, the last of the current round of custom work, and this disturbs me a little. I better hurry up and finish their clothes. And, since I can't post the little flasher just yet here's another Grumpy Cat Keychain Charm.

  DSC06293

Yeah I know, not terribly exciting but it's what people keep ordering so there it is. I also made a batch of pumpkin muffins because pumpkin muffins are friggin delicious and I needed to use up my pumpkin smush before it started growing not-tasty things.

Create 365 - Day 56

Once again, so much I can't post yet and a few things being worked on at the same time.

Above is a pile of patterns in envelopes to keep their small pieces from wandering off, a couple of Black & White Grumpy Cats waiting to be sewn, and an origami butterfly (apx 2.5" at the widest). Other pieces off-camera and wailing for my attention.

And now, back I go. Heeyah, mule! Heeyah!

Create 365 - Day 55

I made a new Facebook cover photo today while taking a break from pattern tweaking, fabric sorting and cutting.

coverphoto1

The gradient is a bit off, I wanted the grey to match up a bit better on the left, but it'll do for now until I have more time to play with it.

Alright, it's back to work for me, time's a'wasting!

Create 365 - Day 54

I've been pondering over and fiddling with a custom chibi today but on my breaks I've finished another Grumpy keychain plush. This one seems to have a serious WTH? look to it, I think. Love it!

Alright, back to Addams Family Values and working out this other plush. Night!

Saturday, March 2, 2013

Create 365 - Day 53

I've been working on all sorts of things today that I can't really post about like patterns and custom designs . No fair, I know. Also photo edits, listings and other things on the "boring" side of my business.

All I can give you today is a tiny peek at a couple things I'm working on simultaneously and a neat little origami dragon (follow the link to try it yourself).

I'll have to try this origami dragon again sometime. I'm not *quite* happy with the bottom jaw. Still, not an easy fold and only 3.5" long when finished. I like it.

Create 365 - Day 51 & 52

I'm back, batlings! The last few days have been... something. I'm still not 100% but definitely feeling functional, so to pick up where I left off in my 365, here is the proof:

Day 51 (Feb 28th)

Greyson Zoolander Derptastic the Third is not sure what he thinks of our newest kitty. Grumpy Kitten obviously could care less. [NFS, mine!]

Day 52 (Mar 1st)

Yes, another Grumpy Kitten Plush! This one was feeling a bit sullen and decided to have a lie-down. Still, isn't she adorable with her hand stitched face and giant kittenish ears? She is approximately 10" tall (ears to toes) with a 7" arm span.

She's already reserved but I'll be making more so keep your pantaloons on. I've got custom orders that have been waiting for me to get well enough to finish them. Those come first.

Not sure how people who do a continuous, unbroken 365 manage it. Life just loves to throw random monkey wrenches into the works. But, this is my 365, with my "rules", so I'm just going to keep on keeping on!
