Create 365 - Day 112

Today was all about laundry, sketching, pattern tweaking and photos for listings. So, it was a mostly enjoyable day.

Don't judge my mismatched pencils.

I also thwarted a pair of robins trying to make a home of our front porch light. I don't have a picture at the moment but I stacked and taped 3 coffee containers. Then wrapped it in a white plastic bag to blend into the house and keep out other critters. I placed it on top of the light, leaning into the corner of the porch roof and, voila, bird nest deterrent!

There are so many trees here to choose from so I don't know what was so exciting about our porch. If it had been anywhere else on the house we probably would have let them be. But, no one wants mud, crap, screeching birds, and who knows what else, not 2 feet from their head when trying to come inside.

Create 365 - Day 109, 110 & 111

So I may have fallen asleep before posting my 365. Twice. Oopsie!

Here are not one but 3 Grumpy Nekos --the center one is from Day 108 but it looks so cute with it's clones I had to included it again-- and an origami lotus.

These will be listed sometime this week along with the Halloween Batling.

Create 365 - Day 108

One more little detour before diving into the next chibi adventure.

Hmm, This Grumpy Neko doesn't seem real pleased with the prospect of more clones. Well, too bad, Grumpy Neko! You can say "no" all you want but It's gonna happen.

Side note: Bet you didn't know that it takes 13 hand cut, and hand sewn, pieces to make each one. Yup. 17 parts total, if you include the beads, ribbon loop and ball chain.

Create 365 - Day 107

So the hubby has this work thing where they're all bringing food. He asked me if Tortilla Roll Ups sounded good. Cream cheese? Sour cream? Uh yeah. This is for me, right? Sadly, no, even though I am very tempted by that big tupperware full of dairy goodness. I will resist!

Now he did subbed the sour cream, green onions, and salsa for a sour cream salsa dip since he couldn't find the green onions at the store (WTH?). It is a good sub, I was impressed.

He diced his pepper, plopped everything into a bowl and starts stirring like a madman. Seriously, he attacked that poor bowl. I was now afraid. Afraid my relatively clean kitchen was about to become a disaster zone. Good thing it was a metal bowl or I'd have had chunky, flavored dairy splattered across my kitchen interspersed with shards of pain and sadness. So I took over the mixing (sucker!).

I watched as he attempted the first roll. "Uh, I don't think they're supposed to be that big. Does it say how much to put in there?", I ask. He read the instructions out loud to me. No such luck. At this point I gave it a try and determine a healthy tablespoon is enough. He stood by watching, munching on his giant Tortilla Roll-up while I make 14 more. For him. To take to work. Dammit!

For the record, he did give me a couple of wee bites. Anyway, the rolls are supposed to be cut into 1/2" thick discs. But what guy bring dainty finger food to a job thing? Okay, well some guys might. Besides, you wind up wasting (or eating) the ends if you do the fancy cutting because they don't make pretty little disks of delicious. They'd be ugly little spouts. Delicious ugly little spouts but still ugly. At least this way they look like he made them to boot. Unless of course someone notices how fairly neat they are. Heehee.

Create 365 - Day 106

A lot of boring non-creative research today and I'm still not done. Strange local fact: Most dentists do not have office hours outside of Mon-Thurs, 8a-4p. How do people get to the dentist when most people work Mon-Fri 9a-5p??

Anywho, I took a break from the chibi madness and tried out a new idea but, alas, it was not meant to be.

The critter-that-wasn't and a blue origami trumpet flower from memory. Hopefully I'll have better luck tomorrow with the creatives.

Create 365 - Day 105

For a hot minute I thought I wouldn't have anything to post for today and I wasn't even feeling up to even folding origami. Damn it, weather and allergies, stop messing with me.

I did get the final touches on the chibi doll I was working on and just I got the go ahead to post a pic. Yay!

This is a custom ordered chibi version of Kayako Saeki, the mother ghost, from Ju-On. She has a reverse applique open mouth, hand stitched eyes and back part of hair, hand painted and splattered "blood", also hand painted bags around the eyes which are a little hard to see here. I am so glad the outfit worked out too because I totally winged it on the nightdress and matching panties.
She is finally ready to go to her new home and stop freaking me the hell out. Creepy damn doll, if I do say so myself.

Note to self: Never work on something like this again, late a night, when everyone but you is asleep. O_O

Create 365 - Day 104

I'm pretty much done with the latest chibi doll, just needs a finishing touch or two. I can't wait to be able to share it!

In the meantime, a nod to the little critter that tried to make the air ducts under our house it's new home, here is a very tiny origami fox.

Half way through I was thinking I should have chosen paper larger than 3" because, when finished, it turned out to be less than 1.25" long. That's what I get for jumping right in without reviewing the steps. With 40 steps (not including repeats) to get through that made for some very tiny folds. Most definitely cute though!

Create 365 - Day 103

I'm feeling a little Halloween-y today so I stitched up an Orange Batling with sparkly Black wings and Golden Yellow glass eyes.

This one's got a bit of an underbite but it can still nibble your fingers and toes just fine! Not really. Or, could it?

Create 365 - Day 102

Here's that sleepy, little, pink-eyed Owl's brother.

He's definitely not your typical Night Owl, he doesn't mind being woken up as long as he gets to go back to sleep shortly there after. Or, if you give him cake. He really likes chocolate cake.

Friday, April 19, 2013

Create 365 - Day 101

I took a wee break from chibi making and stitched up this little Owl.

She looks a bit sleepy, maybe even a little hung over? And, I just realized in looking at the picture again that I forgot to embroider her belly feathers. Well, I'll just have to fix that along with finishing her brother. Then it's back to chibi-ness for me!

Create 365 - Day 100

Woo, 100!

What did I make today? Why, miniature panties of course. Oh, and a matching dress. I'm actually posting a picture today because I realized no one is going to know what the heck this is until it's done. So, here is some headless doll booty!

Headless doll booty. Never thought you'd read that, am I right? You're welcome. ;) She does have a head, it just happens to be elsewhere at the moment. I'll have to come up with something else to show for tomorrow because this is the last you'll see of her until she's done.

Create 365 - Day 99

I won the fabric battle with the chibi doll I'm working on, yeah! After all the fussing and fighting it turned out nicely. Don't think I'll be using that fabric again for dolls though, at least not for the body. Now to whip up some clothes for this creepy little thing.

Since this one is still under wraps, here is an origami crane.

I can't believe I don't already have one in the collection but I double checked and not a one is to be found. Strange, maybe it flew away.

Time for the sleepings. xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 98

Still working on the same doll. I should have just changed the type of fabric I was using for the body, but no, I have to be my usual stubborn self. The head looks good but I'm won't know about the body until I turn it and begin to stuff it. Which I'll save for dealing with after I've gotten some sleep.

Here's proof it really does exist. It's only a sneak peek, sorry.

And, here's some filling and somewhat healthy oatmeal muffins. The darker ones were baked with honey on top, the lighter ones without.

Create 365 - Day 97

I got my dahlias in the ground today. Much thanks to my super awesome friend for her help, who knows who she is!!

I had no idea the grew so BIG. Of the ones I have, the shortest says 3.5ft and the tallest 5ft. Good thing they're in front of the porch so I can string them straight to the railing if needed. I can't wait until they start growing! So exciting.

I've been having chibi doll issues so here's a turtle.

Better luck to me on the chibi front later (fingers and toes crossed).

Create 365 - Day 96

Today was full of working on a chibi doll, dreaming of planting dahlias in the front yard (this week!), and then I folded these two little cuties...

Here's the link to make you own paper kitties. Click the thumbnail and download the jpeg so you can zoom in. There's directions for 3 different kitties and even a puppy.

Create 365 - Day 95

I'm a bit stumped on how I want to do the face for this doll I'm working on right now. Applique or reverse applique? The first is easy, the second is harder but it might look better. Is it really a decision when I always seem to choose the hard way? I can't seem to help myself.

Anywho, here is a fairly complicated, but really neat, two piece origami spider on my cat's back!

Hmm, my little dude doesn't really seem phased by it at all. He even tucked his head down and went to sleep after the pic, spider still staring from his back. Where's that fierce animal instinct, man's adorable little serial killer? Wuss, is more like it.

Here's the spider on it's own...

Until tomorrow xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 94

I actually caught up on sleep today and then we had company so I made Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies.

I managed to get a pic before they were all gone. Delicious!

Create 365 - Day 93

Here is an owl, he is not a morning person.

I'll probably be posting a random item here or there for the next few days because I'm currently working on a custom piece that can not yet be reveal.

Create 365 - Day 92

Two chibi dolls are done and ready to go to their new home. Meet chibi-Jonny Craig & chibi-Vic Fuentes!

"Hey, Jonny! What's up?"
"Ah, you know, touring and dodging screaming fangirls. You, Vic?"
"Yup, same old, same old."

I'll have better pics later when I'm slightly more awake and sure to have the camera in focus.

Create 365 - Day 91

It's alive! Okay, not really, but it is finished. May I present to you chibi Jonny.

Now to finish up his buddy Vic.

I'm pretty tired so this post is short and sweet. See you on the flip side.

Create 365 - Day 90

So, not ever day is perfect and I sometimes make mistakes. Thankfully, I caught this one little mistake before I finished the face. Can you see it?

The correct (second) head is on the right. I had the one on the left fully stuffed, sewn on and everything! Then I realized his chin was "skin" when he's supposed to have one of those goatee/beard sort of things going on. *Facepalm* So, off with his head and a new one was made.

He will be finished tomorrow! Until then, here is an origami rooster.

Create 365 - Day 89

After attacking my stove in a manic bout of Spring cleaning I made headway on the two chibis. Amazing what a little determined scrubbing can do to a 12yr old oven. Shiny. But, enough about that.

I also made an origami seahorse.

And, then promptly fell asleep on the couch before posting. Teehee.

Create 365 - Day 88

The chibi boys are coming along nicely. I would have gotten farther along but the cats decided to sing us the songs of their people on and off all last night. Plus, we had company today that instigated a non-stop Gears of War marathon. A very loud and distracting one. When you're already tired it doesn't help much in the creative works, at least not for me. No bigs.

So, here is an origami dinasaur (raptor, maybe?)...

...and headless chibi bodies *buhuhahaha*. Ahem.

Nite! xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 87

Protip: Don't ever let your sewing machine go two years between oilings. Your machine is less likely to throw an epic fit in the middle of a bunch of projects.

After getting my machine running smoothly again, I have finished another pair of teensy tiny pants and two tee shirts.

I've also finished all the machine sewing for these two. I just need to turn the heads and bodies right side out, clothe them, stuff them, and then it's all hand sewing from here on out.

Then on to the next batch! But, we'll get to them later.

xx ~Static

Thursday, April 4, 2013

Create 365 - Day 86

I didn't get a ton of sewing done today thanks to the epic battle with my slightly ancient (but awesome!) sewing machine. The hubby was kind enough to brave Wallyworld on his way home to grab me some much needed machine oil.

I have managed to finish one, of two, pair of chibi skinny jeans and the JAWS applique for one of the shirts though.

Other than that I've been fray-checking, trimming seams, pinning, and basically doing everything but machine sewing. We shall see if princess Pfaff will now cooperate since she has been thoroughly cleaned and oiled.

xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 85

Well, my sewing machine is apparently pissed at me and decided to stop working without a fight. I cleaned it, swapped needles, and checked over parts. The only thing I can think of that it might need is oil. Which I don't have, of course. *Facepalm* I was chugging along nicely too! Ugh.

So, here's a simple little origami crow. In orange because I don't have black paper.

I'm going to go sulk now. xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 84

Cutting, cutting and more cutting. There are piles of chibi parts everywhere!

Okay, maybe not everywhere but I do seem to have the beginnings of another small army. A platoon in my plush army of doooooom!

I may have had a little too much sugar today.

The origami diagram for the blue birds can be found here. They can be done with a triangle of paper or a square folded in half, definitely bigger paper than 3" for the latter though.

Alright, I'm off for the night. I've got lots of stitching to do tomorrow. (And, more candy to eat *buhuhahaha*!) xx ~Static

Monday, April 1, 2013

Create 365 - Day 83

Amongst the mundane, but necessary, hausfrau duties I finished another Grumpy Neko today...

The army grows!

Now on to a slew of chibi dolls. One of which will be a completely new design and top secret for a little while.

Until tomorrow xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 82

Today was a day of sketching and prepping.

I'm actually still prepping with all the orders I've gotten in the last couple days. I'm so full up right now that I closed custom requests and my made-to-order listings for the rest of the month. Woohoo!... Eep. I better get back to work. Just be prepared for more origami because these babies will take me more than a day to stitch up.
