Create 365 - Day 171

My dahlias are starting to bloom! The only thing that irks me about gardening is fighting with the bugs and slugs. They need to stop eating my plants. Or else. The best thing I've found so far for the bugs is Neem oil and the slugs don't like coffee grounds, but the dahlias do.

Anywho, since I'm so tickled about my dahlia plants I made another Swirl Dahlia Barrette.

Golden Yellow, Burgundy & Turquoise. Apx 4.5" wide on a 2" French barrette. The color combo was inspired by the color scheme of a favorite blog, Kisses and Chaos, written by the enchanting Miss Alli Woods Frederick.

I seem to be doing things in pairs lately. Here's a friend for the Red & Yellow Dragon, a Grey & Purple one.

When I get them to the light tent for a better photo shoot you'll get to see the cute little tails.

These little critters are pretty shy and don't like to bite since people don't taste very good to them anyway. They'll snuggle up to you for warmth just fine though.

Create 365 - Day 9

Today was adding a star fish, with embroidered star, to the Mermaid's hair and making a Krampus.

Obviously the lovely Mermaid and Krampus aren't talking at the moment. It seems they had some sort of a disagreement. Something about him snickering at her tail and her making fun of his little yellow backpack, as far as I can tell.

This little sweet little aquatic lass was brought about by a suggestion from lovely Renae Marie of AlternateVisions.

I think she may need a starfish in her hair or something similar. I'll think about it tomorrow, tonight I must begin a custom chibi doll!

Create 365 - Day 1

2013 has gotten off to a good start. I've decided to endeavor to create at least one thing a day, every day of 2013. What should I call it? Create 365? Another upside to doing a 365 is I'll post here more often. Yay!... Yay? Oh boy. No, no I can do this!

I was going to try this last year but well, you know, excuses.

Anyway, to start off the year I stitched up a baker's dozen of limited edition headbands! I did them over a couple days but I'm counting them all as day #1 since that's when I finished and listed them so nyah.

Left Column (top to bottom): Tumbling Cats - Purple Turq, Creepy Carnie Conversations, Dancing Skeletons in the Fog, Happy Ghosts in the Attic

Middle Column: Black Cat in the Garden, Victorian Lady, Three Witches, Aztec Dreams, Black Cat in the Garden at Night

Right Column: Candied Flowers, Dancing Skeletons, Creepy Conversations, Tumbling Cats - Purple Black

June Reversible Headbands

What a distracting month it's been! Anywho, a couple of previous styles have been relisted but here are the new styles of reversible headbands for this month. Loving the turquoise fabric! If you didn't notice ;)

Top L: Tumbling Cats - Purple & Turquoise, R: Spiderwebs Over Water
Bottom L: Mirage Oasis, R: Chinese Flowers

As always custom requests on the headbands are welcome if you see two fabric I have that you would like together.

All right back to work for me, I've still got a lot of hand stitching of Hobbes-like stripes to finish(?) today. There's a progress photo of this on my FB page here.

Why am I up so early?

The answer is the cats are out to get me. No, really, they are! *Looks around nervously* Whew, they're sleeping. For now.

Since I'm awake I thought I'd show you a couple things from my perspective. First thing in the morning...

That cup is full of delicious manna (coffee). Notice how nothing can be focused on until that nectar of the gods has been consumed? Powerful stuff. The tilt of the photo is due to my face being strongly attracted to the table top. The attractions wears off after awhile so no cause for alarm.

After a few sips of manna I was able to take a few more snaps. Here's the amazingly bright turquoise fabric I mentioned on FB along with some combos I'm probably going to go with for headbands (top matching to bottom).

And, last but not least, a pulled back view of what my kitchen table looks like when no one can hear me scream...

See that? Poor Hobbes won't even look.

Well, I'm off for more manna and then hopefully I'll work on my Tiger Buddy there for a bit -- I can only work on him a little at time for fear of hand cramps-- and then stitch up those headbands as a breather from His Stripeyness.
