Create 365 - Day 191 & 192

Okay, lots of stops and starts this past week. I have also just started studying for what hopefully will be a new (additional) career. Unfortunately, since I've been trying to figure out what works best in getting both studying and sewing done, I have only finished two days worth of 365-worthy stuff. The good news is that I think I've figured out how not to exhaust or stress myself out doing both.

Anywho, now for the good stuff. This cutie pie was a test doll to work out the kinks of what I have in mine for my gaggle of nieces this Christmas. I customized it to my taste since I'm keeping it. Here is my 13" tall Cutie Vamp Doll.

The ones for my nieces will not have fangs or bat dresses but you get the idea. The next ones will be twice as large, and will be fleece where this one is felt for the most part. They'll also be all machine stitched except for detailed bits. I'd never finish if I had to sew them all by hand!

This is counting as two days because the doll body was done one day and the dress was redrafted and sewn the next available stitchy day.

Well, time for me to get studying! Yay?

Create 365 - Day 177

Today I made...

...pointy-toothed grinning Hair Clips! Inspired by the hair clips the character Katsuragi Yako wears in the anime Majin Tantei Nōgami Neuro (Demon Detective Nōgami Neuro).

Create 365 - 164 to 166

Day 164

A pair of Small Cotton Eyelet Lace Bows. Apx 3" wide with 2" french barrettes at the back. The barrettes are mirrored so one can be worn on each side of the head. Machine and hand sewn.

Day 165

A Large Cotton Eyelet Lace Bow! Apx 6.5" wide with a 2" french barrette.

Day 166

A sweet, smiling Sparkling Orange Halloween Neko!

I did skip a day of creating (not of the 365) but it was the fourth and we had company. I really could include that day here since I cooked like a mad woman (jambalaya, corn bread & a few dozen peanut butter chocochip cookies). But, I didn't take any pics and as they say on the interwebs: pics or it didn't happen. Right? ;) S'all good.

Create 365 - Day 162

Still making hair flowers. Here's another Swirl Dahlia Hairclip in Black and White.

Still trying to think of what to make next. Cats have been coming up in conversation a lot lately so I think I may just go with that. I'll make some Maneko Nekos, to be more exact. Making actual cats is kind outside my expertise and, really, that would be kind of weird even if I could.

Until tomorrow, my darklings! xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 116

After a busy day of shopping, laundry and hanging with the hubby I find my brain is too stuffed with, well, stuff to work on more sewing today. I learned to make lucky stars instead!

The smallest (and best so far) one is the tiniest at about 3/8". There's a great post here with diagram and video if you want to make your own.

Oddly enough I've never made these before. Now that I know how I can see this getting addictive with any and all scraps of paper that might be lying about. Hopefully I'll get back in the stitch of things tomorrow. I've got work to do!

Create 365 - Day 73

Here is the black and white Grumpy Neko.

Look at that snaggly tooth. Look at it! So cute.

I'm a bit punchy since I need to sleep so I'll be going now.

Create 365 - Day 71

Nyan-nyan! (Meow-meow!)

I am the night!

Yeah, yeah, you are the night. I swear these little guys don't have anything else to say. There will be another Nyanpire with purple wings shortly but I have to finish a Grumpy Neko first. Woo!

Create 365 - Day 65

Here are the finished tiebacks for the curtains. Same fabric as the chairs on the outside and solid black cotton on the inside. Since they'll be hanging next to the chair rail (the molding that runs along the wall about 3ft up from the floor) I echoed the shape with a waved bottom edge.

I'm happy that you don't see that center seam unless you're looking for it, especially once it's wrapped around the curtain. I did go all out and edge stitch them even though they pressed sharply. I also hand stitched/wrapped the loops that will go over the hooks instead of stitching on plastic rings. Now to just coax the hubby into put the hooks in the wall for me :D .

If you are wanting to make your own tiebacks here's a good explanation on how to measure them out.

Create 365 - Day 63

At the time of the pic, two chairs have been recovered in stripey goodness and I drafted a quick pattern (under the scissors) to make matching tiebacks for my lovely but boring black curtains. The leftover strip of fabric, after cutting the pieces for the seats, was just shouting to be used. Why not coordinate?

The only problem is I want vertical stripes and the left over isn't quite long enough in the correct direction for that but... a seam at the center fold might go unnoticed if I do it right at the edges of the stripes. Yes, I think that is the plan for tomorrow. Finish the chairs and then make those tiebacks happen.

Create 365 - Day 62

This is my first attempt at re-covering a chair seat. So, of course, I had to choose something as difficult as a stripe. But, it's stripey goodness and therefore a must.

I loves me a staple gun! [Insert maniacal laughter here]
The "before" is on the on the left and the "after" is on the right.

Le sigh ♥.

If you want to try it yourself, here are the best written instructions I've come across. The section on how to get the right measurements for your fabric was spot on for my seats. Always double check before you cut though. Also, there's a lot of youtube videos on how to do it if you need the visual.

Well, 1 down and 5 to go. Later, lovelies!

Create 365 - Day 58

Tiny shoes about 2.5" long have come clomping across my table.

I can't wait to be done with this piece. Not because it's taken me a bit of time to finish, since I'm creating some elements as I go, but because I can't wait for it to be shared!

Create 365 - Day 56

Once again, so much I can't post yet and a few things being worked on at the same time.

Above is a pile of patterns in envelopes to keep their small pieces from wandering off, a couple of Black & White Grumpy Cats waiting to be sewn, and an origami butterfly (apx 2.5" at the widest). Other pieces off-camera and wailing for my attention.

And now, back I go. Heeyah, mule! Heeyah!

Create 365 - Day 45

Well, apparently our princely little Jackalope has siblings since one turned up today to wish the other bon voyage. Also, Grumpy Cat is back but doesn't seem to care much for the horned bunny, or "lunch", as Grumpy kept mumbling.

I think I'll keep these two separated until it's time for Grumpy to go to her new home, so nothing unfortunate happens. I wouldn't want the royal Jackalope guard pounding down my door, that's for sure.

P.S. - Check out my Facebook page for some great deals this month. Happy V-Day!

Create 365 - Day 44

A tiny Albino Jackalope showed up today. He says he's a prince but really has no proof other than his little crown, worn so jauntily. What do you think, is he royalty?

Inspired by my fine friend, MonstrousIndustry, and her fantastic drawings and prints!

Create 365 - Day 41

Oh dear, it seems my nekos have gone vampire! Yet another adorably fanged Nyanpire has turned up on my table.

A tuxedo kitty with red sparkly wings, what's not to love?

Here is a companion to the Grumpy Neko I posted the other day!

Such a cute, little snaggletooth he is, too. His backside and tail is all black.

Create 365 - Day 22

I haven't made one of these in a while and anyone can always use a little luck, right? So, here's a sweet little Red Maneki Neko, aka Lucky Cat, for today.

I'll be adding a Ribbon and a Jingle Bell around the neck before it's listed. Such a cutie!
