Create 365 - Day 134

Lots of cleaning and straightening up today to make the place company worthy. I've got a few creative things bopping around my head getting a little crowded out by interview stressing. Nothing solidified yet though, so here is an origami peacock.

I'm starting to have quite the collection of origami! I leave them on the hubby's computer as little surprises. When a new one is made the last one gets moved to a shelf. I'll have to post a pic of the menagerie some time.

Create 365 - Day 119 to 129

Where have I been? In a land far, far away. No, not really. I had a job interview and guests which combined to throw me off my (creative) game for a hot minute. But, I'm back on track and I have a stack of pretties to prove it!

There are nine reversible headbands on the left and two fabric origami on the right. I have three new fabric combos for the headbands but you're just going to have to wait for the individual pics to see them. The rest are remakes of sold out combos, and just as spooky cute, of course.

As for the fabric origami, they are folded just as if it were paper. No stitches! I love how they turned out.

Well, it's finally time for some shut eye. I need my rest since I've got a cheesecake to bake tomorrow and I might possibly be seeing Star Trek at the IMAX (squee!).

Create 365 - Day 117

After a migraine dodging nap, I got in some gardening and straightened up half the garage. Four of my dahlia plants are sprouting! The one that will be the tallest, Amorous, was the first to come up. Hopefully the other two will start coming up soon. I can't wait to see them blooming but it'll still be awhile.

So in the theme of May flowers I folded an origami hummingbird.

Create 365 - Day 116

After a busy day of shopping, laundry and hanging with the hubby I find my brain is too stuffed with, well, stuff to work on more sewing today. I learned to make lucky stars instead!

The smallest (and best so far) one is the tiniest at about 3/8". There's a great post here with diagram and video if you want to make your own.

Oddly enough I've never made these before. Now that I know how I can see this getting addictive with any and all scraps of paper that might be lying about. Hopefully I'll get back in the stitch of things tomorrow. I've got work to do!

Create 365 - Day 113 & 114

Day 113 - Nothing terribly exciting today except a cute tiny terrier origami...

Day 114 - Holy wow, I made bread from scratch dough for the first time! It's tasty too, if I do say so myself. I am very happy about this. Here is the bread...

You may notice the end is missing there. Well, I did have to test it, to make sure it was palatable, of course. It might have lost another slice after the picture too. Teehee.

Anywho, here is the recipe I used. I am so thankful for this guys step by step instructions! The only thing I did different is that when it came out of the oven the crust was a tad too hard for my liking. Not knowing what to do about it, I wrapped the bread in a towel to cool and keep any stray cat fur/dust away, and guess what? Wrapping it in the towel, and the bread's own steam, softened it. Hurray! And, delicious. I also added a touch of butter before it cooled completely.

Create 365 - Day 109, 110 & 111

So I may have fallen asleep before posting my 365. Twice. Oopsie!

Here are not one but 3 Grumpy Nekos --the center one is from Day 108 but it looks so cute with it's clones I had to included it again-- and an origami lotus.

These will be listed sometime this week along with the Halloween Batling.

Create 365 - Day 106

A lot of boring non-creative research today and I'm still not done. Strange local fact: Most dentists do not have office hours outside of Mon-Thurs, 8a-4p. How do people get to the dentist when most people work Mon-Fri 9a-5p??

Anywho, I took a break from the chibi madness and tried out a new idea but, alas, it was not meant to be.

The critter-that-wasn't and a blue origami trumpet flower from memory. Hopefully I'll have better luck tomorrow with the creatives.

Create 365 - Day 104

I'm pretty much done with the latest chibi doll, just needs a finishing touch or two. I can't wait to be able to share it!

In the meantime, a nod to the little critter that tried to make the air ducts under our house it's new home, here is a very tiny origami fox.

Half way through I was thinking I should have chosen paper larger than 3" because, when finished, it turned out to be less than 1.25" long. That's what I get for jumping right in without reviewing the steps. With 40 steps (not including repeats) to get through that made for some very tiny folds. Most definitely cute though!

Create 365 - Day 99

I won the fabric battle with the chibi doll I'm working on, yeah! After all the fussing and fighting it turned out nicely. Don't think I'll be using that fabric again for dolls though, at least not for the body. Now to whip up some clothes for this creepy little thing.

Since this one is still under wraps, here is an origami crane.

I can't believe I don't already have one in the collection but I double checked and not a one is to be found. Strange, maybe it flew away.

Time for the sleepings. xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 97

I got my dahlias in the ground today. Much thanks to my super awesome friend for her help, who knows who she is!!

I had no idea the grew so BIG. Of the ones I have, the shortest says 3.5ft and the tallest 5ft. Good thing they're in front of the porch so I can string them straight to the railing if needed. I can't wait until they start growing! So exciting.

I've been having chibi doll issues so here's a turtle.

Better luck to me on the chibi front later (fingers and toes crossed).

Create 365 - Day 96

Today was full of working on a chibi doll, dreaming of planting dahlias in the front yard (this week!), and then I folded these two little cuties...

Here's the link to make you own paper kitties. Click the thumbnail and download the jpeg so you can zoom in. There's directions for 3 different kitties and even a puppy.

Create 365 - Day 95

I'm a bit stumped on how I want to do the face for this doll I'm working on right now. Applique or reverse applique? The first is easy, the second is harder but it might look better. Is it really a decision when I always seem to choose the hard way? I can't seem to help myself.

Anywho, here is a fairly complicated, but really neat, two piece origami spider on my cat's back!

Hmm, my little dude doesn't really seem phased by it at all. He even tucked his head down and went to sleep after the pic, spider still staring from his back. Where's that fierce animal instinct, man's adorable little serial killer? Wuss, is more like it.

Here's the spider on it's own...

Until tomorrow xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 90

So, not ever day is perfect and I sometimes make mistakes. Thankfully, I caught this one little mistake before I finished the face. Can you see it?

The correct (second) head is on the right. I had the one on the left fully stuffed, sewn on and everything! Then I realized his chin was "skin" when he's supposed to have one of those goatee/beard sort of things going on. *Facepalm* So, off with his head and a new one was made.

He will be finished tomorrow! Until then, here is an origami rooster.

Create 365 - Day 89

After attacking my stove in a manic bout of Spring cleaning I made headway on the two chibis. Amazing what a little determined scrubbing can do to a 12yr old oven. Shiny. But, enough about that.

I also made an origami seahorse.

And, then promptly fell asleep on the couch before posting. Teehee.

Create 365 - Day 88

The chibi boys are coming along nicely. I would have gotten farther along but the cats decided to sing us the songs of their people on and off all last night. Plus, we had company today that instigated a non-stop Gears of War marathon. A very loud and distracting one. When you're already tired it doesn't help much in the creative works, at least not for me. No bigs.

So, here is an origami dinasaur (raptor, maybe?)...

...and headless chibi bodies *buhuhahaha*. Ahem.

Nite! xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 85

Well, my sewing machine is apparently pissed at me and decided to stop working without a fight. I cleaned it, swapped needles, and checked over parts. The only thing I can think of that it might need is oil. Which I don't have, of course. *Facepalm* I was chugging along nicely too! Ugh.

So, here's a simple little origami crow. In orange because I don't have black paper.

I'm going to go sulk now. xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 84

Cutting, cutting and more cutting. There are piles of chibi parts everywhere!

Okay, maybe not everywhere but I do seem to have the beginnings of another small army. A platoon in my plush army of doooooom!

I may have had a little too much sugar today.

The origami diagram for the blue birds can be found here. They can be done with a triangle of paper or a square folded in half, definitely bigger paper than 3" for the latter though.

Alright, I'm off for the night. I've got lots of stitching to do tomorrow. (And, more candy to eat *buhuhahaha*!) xx ~Static

Create 365 - Day 81

I'm wrestling with hemming a pair of canvas karate pants for a friend this evening. I've only jabbed myself maybe half a dozen times. Stupid canvas.

Seeing the hem on a pair of plain white canvas pants is not exactly exciting so here is my nod to Easter, an origami bunny:

I really need some thinner paper especially if I keep insisting on making them so small! From a 3"x3" paper it came to about 1.75" high by 1.25" wide. It's got some unusual folds but I think it turned out alright. Here's the diagram if you want to try it for yourself.

Create 365 - Day 78

I had some technical difficulties with something I was stitching on so for today here is an origami arching cat...

I don't have a link for this one because it's from a book called Classic Origami by Paul Jackson. Maybe your library or local bookshop has a copy you can browse?
For whatever reason there are not many intermediate cat origami. This one is a little hard but doable with patience (and thin paper!).

Create 365 - Day 56

Once again, so much I can't post yet and a few things being worked on at the same time.

Above is a pile of patterns in envelopes to keep their small pieces from wandering off, a couple of Black & White Grumpy Cats waiting to be sewn, and an origami butterfly (apx 2.5" at the widest). Other pieces off-camera and wailing for my attention.

And now, back I go. Heeyah, mule! Heeyah!
