Super Kawaii Happy Maneki Neko May Giveaway

My sweet kitty has inspired this month's giveaway: Maneki Neko! Yatta!

Maneki Neko's are also known as Beckoning Cats, Lucky Cats, Money Cats, Welcoming Cats, and Fortune Cats. They are believed to bring good luck to the owner and I have heard that they're considered even more so when received as a gift. I'm just sayin' ;)

Because our gestures differ many Westerners think that Maneki Nekos are waving when in actuality they are beckoning, as in "Come here!". Generally the left paw up beckons customers, while the right paw up beckons wealth and good luck. Traditionally Maneki Nekos were made to resemble Japanese Bobtail cats - white, orange, black calicos with kawaii nubby tails - but now come in many colors, each having a different meaning (see my definitions list here).

Okay I could ramble on forever about Maneki Nekos but I'll get on with the giveaway instead!

You might remember a while back I won first place in the Etsy Dark Team's design contest for business cards and 3rd place for flyers. Well one of my prizes was from SacredOak! Not only did I get to chose my favorite color, red, but I also got to choose a couple of my favorite scents, Rain & Night Queen. I received a red Rain scented candle, a bar of red Night Queen soap, 2 Rain sea salts, Dragon's Blood sea salts, Black Opium sea salts & a specially blended bath tea.

As you can see there's more than just the scents I chose and I'm glad there are, it all smells wonderful! Also SacredOak was so understanding of my allergies and made a wonder bath tea for me that I can't wait to try. It's even labeled "Maya's Special Bath Tea"! So sweet.

The package was sent Priority so it got here super quick (much faster than my review by far. Bad, Static!) and everything was wonderfully packaged and well secured. SacredOak's shop is a definite must for any browse & buy day!

Static's Sanity, Or Lack There Of

I'm one of those people that even if I'm physically stationary my mind is in over-drive most of the time. Sometimes it can annoy even me how I bounce from one thing to the next and back again but I manage to get everything done (mostly LOL). It definitely comes in handy for admin though! I have a workroom but I hog the living room table on a regular basis so I can be near my laptop which is no longer exactly portable since the battery died (propped up with Stephen King for improved air circulation!). My workroom is a million times better than the 3ft x 3ft corner I had in our last place. It's a kitty-free zone used for machine sewing, draping, laying patterns on the floor without "help" from the fuzzybutts and storing all my fabric, patterns, books and finished goodies.

But hand sewing, small/detail work all gets done on our little glass living room table. Besides if the hubbers is home I'd rather hang with him then be locked away in a workroom anyway.

Oh did I mention that it makes a great light table with just a wee lamp under it? Oh yeah.

Review: Sneddonia.Etsy.com & DarkSideSoap.Etsy.com

Did you know you can have 364 days worth of UnBirthdays? I'm on an UnBirthday streak apparently because I got a lovely piece of art from Sneddonia in the form of a beaded copper wire bat:

That's going right in my workroom window! It got here pretty quick too (UK to US). She also sent me some business card held together with a wire bow. Nice touch.

As for DarkSideSoap, let me tell you, these soaps smell delicious! Almost good enough to eat! Which I really wouldn't suggest unless you want flashbacks of getting your mouth washed out for talking back to your momma or granny. Uh yeah. So! DarkSideSoap was kind of enough to send me some off-cut soaps to sample or giveaway. Well I'm definitely keeping his latest soap, Spellbound Woods (yum!), but there are 3 others which I've decided to share. Or at least one of them anyway LOL Yes, they're that good! So keep reading and watch for DarkSideSoap. You'll be missing out if you don't.

And, package #4 of my UnBirthday was my 1" button order from MinePress. I received them in just under 2 weeks, she was very helpful and my pins look great! The price was pretty sweet to boot. I almost didn't write about her because I want to keep her all to myself *muhuhahaha*. I decided to play nice and share. For now.

Sorry the light blips out 1/2 of the Muirne Scrap Bat pin on the far right but you get the general idea ;) This is what I'll be sending out soon for my belated promo swaps at minimum: 4 Note/Postcards, 4 EtsyDarkTeam cards, 4 Static White's Stitchery cards with one of each pin attached, 10pcs recycled paper Bat-fetti.

Package #3 of my UnBirthday was from Amber Dawn of International Charm Day. I entered one of her charm giveaways and jackpot!

So much to play with. The wood cutouts are by the way of PorkChopShow. Gargoyles, gears and eyeballs oh my! I left out the gunmetal beads Amber Dawn sent from the pic because they wouldn't stay put. They just kept rolling away like round hedgehogs. Hey, no one said my photo setup was top notch stuff here. It does what I need, usually, but that's for another time ;D

I had to chuckle about the pocket mirror since I had just sent out a package to her that, unbeknownst to her, had my one and only Scrap Bat pocket mirror! I love MrsEvils' promo, it coordinates perfectly and is so very much her.

The brain soap is by the way of AgonysDecay. Mmmm brains. And there are actually multiples of the cards & magnets because this was also a promo swap, so I can share the love!

I got a bunch of packages yesterday! Was it my UnBirthday? Or maybe Not-Xmas? Any day you get a mailbox full of goodies rather than bills is a good day to me!
